Jewelry: Less is More...Maybe

Welcome to Denise Armand Inc.! With this being our first post and all, I wanted to do a formal introduction. Well, I'm not for long introductions. Let's jump right in.

Over the years there have been opinions about how many accessories is too much. Trends are dynamic and so are opinions. Since we sell a lot of it....Let me ask you how many jewelry pieces should one wear at one time. I say it all depends. Where are you going? What is the occasion? Who will be there? Are there any rules for the attire? What do you do for a living? If someone takes my picture will you cringe at it 5 years from now? These are all good questions to think about when venturing out into this "we can't just live in the moment so let me film or post a pic of everything" world we live in.  I'm not saying ponder over the perfect earrings for hours before going out to the movies. However, there is a chance, even if you are not a celebrity, of running into a tiny paparazzi storm consisting of your Instagram crazed friends at a party or that one weird picture-taking distant cousin that's looking to make a bestie at the family cookout. I say less is more…in most cases.

If you are a rapper, jeweler or someone that would have cause to display your opulent lifestyle – go for it! But for the rest of us…Usually, a statement necklace, a simple pair of earrings, a ring, a simple bag and a clean shoe will be more than enough. Wearing multiple necklaces, overly dramatic earrings and several rings can cause a major collision with your clothing. Especially if your outfit is louder than 85 decibels. You want to draw people’s attention to only a few pieces of accessories. Otherwise, you may get the dreaded “oh my goodness what were you thinking” blank stare from innocent onlookers.  Tone it down, turn it down and just keep it simple. This mindset will work in most areas of your life. This is coming from a lady with a Mohawk and designs shaved on both sides of her head. But my accessories are to a minimum. Thank you, I’ll take that “W”.

There are enough tragedies in the World. Don’t let your accessories be one of them.  Where ever life leads you, dress for the occasion.
